Physicians going undisciplined for sexual misconduct
February 12, 2016
Between 2003 and 2013, 177 physicians who were reported to the National Practitioner Data Bank (NPDB) for sexual misconduct have not been disciplined by their state boards, according to a study published in PLOS ONE. Those physicians represent 70% of the 253 physicians reported to the NPDB by malpractice insurers or hospitals. A total of 1,039 physicians were in the NPDB with at least one sexual misconduct-related report during that time but most had disciplinary actions taken against them by their state medical boards.
